Overview

With economic inequalities at their highest point for 30 years, contributing to a backlash against globalization and the established economic order in many countries, the secretary-general of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) argues that the need for a comprehensive, inclusive growth agenda has never been greater.

He presents the case that inclusive growth goes beyond domestic agendas and has important transnational dimensions, which need to be addressed in a multilateral context.

Seen in this way, he explores inclusive trade and quality investment as two essential conduits for inclusive growth, enabling domestic industries to access international markets and linking them with multinational enterprises and global value chains.
