How the Internet of Things is Changing Power Relations Between Citizens, the Private Sector and the State

Chatham House, London

Participants

Maria Farrell, Independent Writer and Consultant on Internet Policy and Governance
Chair: Emily Taylor, Associate Fellow, International Security, Chatham House

Overview

The Internet of Things is set to make everything ‘smart’, from home appliances and industrial supply chains to cities and public spaces.

At this event, the speaker will discuss in what ways the Internet of Things will change power relations between citizens, the state and business, and whether the tools we currently use to think about and regulate information technologies – such as data protection law – are fit for purpose in a world of ubiquitous computing.

Attendance at this event is by invitation only.

This roundtable is part of a seminar series on the Internet of Things sponsored by American International Group.

The Chatham House Rule

To enable as open a debate as possible, this event will be held under the Chatham House Rule.
