Decisive interventions in Ukraine and Syria have refocused Western attention on Russia. But there is widespread disagreement on the root causes of Russia's behaviour and where might be the next target for Russian assertiveness. This event will discuss the objectives of Moscow's foreign policy and the tools and levers used to achieve it.

The panel will address what it is that Russia wants and how it goes about getting it. The most recent lessons from Russia's deployment to Syria, both in policy and operational terms, will be discussed in the context of Moscow's long-term trajectory and its implications for Europe and the West.
