POSTPONED: Humanitarian Aid and the Private Sector in Africa: The Potential of Partnership for Better Outcomes
Conflict, insurgencies and natural disasters in Africa are causing startling humanitarian crises and development reversals. In conflict-affected countries such as Somalia, Nigeria and South Sudan, or the drought-affected countries of southern Africa, where private sector support and expertise could be highly complementary to humanitarian action to produce longer term progress, contributions from commercial enterprises and foundations remain limited and opportunistic. The business community is often able to galvanize diverse sources of funding, expertise, technologies and distribution channels. More creative long-term partnerships between humanitarian organizations and businesses could go some way towards sustainably addressing emergencies in support of longer term development.
The speakers will discuss developing partnerships between humanitarian organizations and the private sector, their potential and also the challenges to cooperation in matters of humanitarian assistance and development.
PLEASE NOTE, THIS EVENT HAS BEEN POSTPONED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE.
