As ever-increasing numbers of people seek refuge in Europe, EU states have struggled to formulate a coherent response. The crisis has revealed deep divisions between European states over their responsibilities to refugees and migrants and raised questions about the future direction of the Common European Asylum System. The speakers will discuss Hungary’s approach to the crisis as well as the impact of Germany’s open door policy, against the wider backdrop of international and EU law.
