Implications of Changing International Trade: The View from South Africa

8 March 2017 - 4:00pm to 5:00pm

Chatham House, London

Hon Dr Rob Davies, Minister of Trade and Industry, Republic of South Africa

African countries are internationally interconnected and linked into global supply chains. Exposure to the risks of global economic uncertainty and changes in international trade relationships has highlighted the importance of diversification and industrialization policies, as well as the need to consolidate regional markets and strengthen international trade relationships, including through the development of new south-south partnerships.

At this event, South African Minister of Trade and Industry Dr Rob Davies will outline South Africa’s trade and industrial development priorities, and discuss the impact and consequences of changes in international trade for Africa more broadly.
