Add to Calendar

Chatham House, London

Participants

Paolo Giordano, Principal Economist, Integration and Trade Sector, Inter-American Development Bank
Chair: Richard Lapper, Associate Fellow, International Economics Department, Chatham House

Overview

Latin America and the Caribbean are emerging from a severe trade contraction that beset export flows over the last two years. However, the end of the commodity super cycle and the resurgence of protectionism risks clouding the medium-term trade perspectives for the region. Paolo Giordano will discuss the implications of these challenges for export-led strategies in the region.

The updated estimates will be released on 22 May 2017 to complement the Trade and Integration Monitor annual report of the IDB. This briefing will be a part of Chatham House’s International Financial Institution (IFI) Briefing series where institutions will share their thinking with leaders in business, government and academia.
