Australia took over from Russia as the host of the Group of 20 in December 2013 as part of the Troika with Russia and Turkey. The Leaders’ Summit will take place in Brisbane, Queensland in November 2014, after which, Turkey will become the next host.
The aim of the event is to provide advice to the Australian and Turkish Sherpas on possible investments the G20 as a forum could take to advance gender equality in its pursuit of sustainable, balanced and inclusive economic growth.
This event will be opened by Senator the Hon Michaelia Cash, minister assisting the prime minister for Women, at Parliament House, and will include representatives from government, academia, civil society and the diplomatic community.
The event will be followed by a drinks reception.
PLEASE NOTE THAT THE EVENT WILL BE HELD IN CANBERRA.
This event is held in partnership with the Asia-Pacific College of Diplomacy, Australian National University (ANU).
Attendance at this event is by invitation only.
The forum participants came up with a series of recommendations that were handed to the G20 Sherpas when they met in Canberra on 30 September and 1 October 2014. (See PDF download above.)
