Leaving Afghanistan: Making Sense of Afghan Refugees’ Stories

9 June 2016 - 15:00 to 17:00

Chatham House, London

Afghanistan has generated more refugees than any other country in the world, second only to Syria. Yet, commentary in the media rarely captures the real voices of those who are leaving Afghanistan to seek refuge in Europe and other Western countries. What forces so many Afghans to leave? Is leaving an easy option? How unique are these individual stories of migration?

This expert roundtable, co-hosted with the Barcelona Centre for International Affairs (CIDOB) will seek to answer these questions and build on some of the stories behind Afghan migration which are featured in a forthcoming CIDOB policy research paper.
