Overview

The Middle East and North Africa Programme at Chatham House will bring together leading Iraq experts to discuss Faleh Abdul Jabar’s contributions to political and philosophical writings on Iraq and the Middle East. Born in Baghdad in 1946, Jabar’s long career in intellectual and public life was marked by several fundamental texts for the study of Iraq, including the Shiite Movement in Iraq, Post-Marxism and the Middle East, Ayatollahs, Sufis and Ideologues: State, Religion and Social Movements in Iraq, and Tribes and Power: Nationalism and Ethnicity in the Middle East.
