The Party Line: Manipulation and Mind-Control through Social Media?
With increased manipulation of public opinion by state actors over social media, it has become crucial to understand the extent of its political and social impact and what this means for international stability and the future of democracy.
At this event, lead investigators from the Computational Propaganda Lab at the Oxford Internet Institute, University of Oxford, will present the findings of their latest research, which compiles a global inventory of state-sponsored agencies tasked with manipulating public opinion, both domestically and abroad. Drawing on range of public documents and media reports across 22 countries, the research is one of the first attempts to assemble an international and comparative look at state capacity, expenditures and impact.
Attendance at this event is by invitation only.
