Chatham House, London

Asia Programme, Afghanistan: Opportunity in Crisis, Pakistan

Participants

Abubakar Siddique, Journalist and Author
Chair: Dr Farzana Shaikh, Associate Fellow, Asia Programme, Chatham House

Overview

The speaker will argue that the failure, or even unwillingness, of both Afghanistan and Pakistan to absorb the Pashtuns into their state structures has been a central factor in the rise of the Taliban and Islamic extremism throughout the region.
