Overview

The speaker will look at the most significant of Burma’s (Myanmar) recent economic reforms, distinguishing the potentially transformational from the superficial. He will explore the political, strategic and nationalist ends underlying the recent economic changes, arguing that basic economic freedoms and ‘bottom-up’ reforms have proved decisive.
