Overview

As Somalia seeks to consolidate its democratic transition, critical issues remain around service delivery, security and improving capacity. During his tenure as mayor of Mogadishu, Mohamoud Nur witnessed significant changes in the Somali capital. At this event, he will discuss the challenges he faced in bringing about infrastructure reform and improved service delivery, as well as the fight against corruption, drawing on his experience to highlight key policy implications. He will also consider the ongoing Islamist insurgency and will reflect on the country’s prospects beyond planned national elections in 2016.
