Overview

Despite benefitting from strong economic growth and significant interest from international investors, Kenya continues to face pressure from domestic and regional instability. With development and security high on the agenda, balancing such priorities with the protection of human rights remains a significant challenge.

Patricia Nyaundi, secretary of the Kenya National Commission on Human Rights, will discuss the commission’s role as both watchdog and leader in moving the country towards a human rights state, and how it engages with key actors to achieve its aims.
