Russia is the world’s second-largest arms exporter after the US, and is seeking to strengthen its position in new markets. This event will assess Russia’s role in the global arms trade and the importance of the defence industry for its economy. This event will mark the launch of the speakers’ forthcoming research paper 'Russia’s Role as an Arms Exporter: The Strategic and Economic Importance of Arms Exports for Russia'. Richard Connolly and Cecilie Sendstad will offer brief initial remarks each, followed by an hour for questions and discussion.
