Overview

This workshop will analyse the bilateral relationship between the UK and Saudi Arabia, setting it in the wider context of recent geostrategic changes in the MENA region and political developments in the UK. Each panel will consider different aspects of the relationship, highlighting the challenges and opportunities for greater cooperation, from trade and economic relations to security and diplomatic collaboration as well as the importance of mutual perceptions, youth perspectives, and the policy implications of the upcoming general election in the UK. Finally, a forward-looking discussion will debate the future of the bilateral relationship and explore new areas of mutual engagement.

This workshop is part of Chatham House’s Future Trends in the GCC research project, and is held in partnership with the Institute of Diplomatic Studies, Saudi Arabia.
