The Secret World of Smartphones: Privacy, Security and Hidden Communications
Smartphone ownership across the globe has grown rapidly over the past decade and the gadget has become an almost ubiquitous part of daily life for many. However, smartphones’ high connectivity and ability to collect large amounts of personal data have prompted concerns around privacy and security.
In an interactive presentation, Channel 4 News’s technology journalist Geoff White will reveal smartphones’ hidden communications in real time. They will consider the questions that this raises around privacy and security and discuss the data industry that has built up around user’s communications.
As part of this event, the speaker will use interception technology to show the background communications of the audience’s mobile phones. Attendees can opt not to participate by turning off their mobile phone.
This is an Under 35s Forum event. The event will be followed by a reception.
