South Africa’s Political Economy Under New Leadership
Overview
Presidential transition in South Africa has boosted business confidence and increased investor interest in the country. President Cyril Ramaphosa needs to deliver on promises of economic recovery and good governance ahead of next year’s election, but factionalism and corruption persist within the ruling ANC, and opposition parties are capitalizing on the growing gap between voters expectations and government delivery.
At this roundtable Simon Freemantle, senior political economist at Standard Bank Research, will discuss South Africa’s current political economic context, prospects ahead and investor expectations of the new administration.
Attendance at this event is by invitation only.
