Participants

Valter Filipe Duarte da Silva, Governor, National Bank of Angola
Chair: John Flynn CMG, Political Advisor, Chevron

Overview

Low oil prices have had a severe impact on the Angolan economy, including the devaluation of the kwanza and a shortage of US dollars. The National Bank of Angola (BNA) has taken steps to improve bank regulation and ease pressures on the foreign exchange market. But a significant gap between official and parallel market exchange rates indicates that problems persist.

At this meeting the governor of the National Bank of Angola, Mr Valter Filipe Duarte da Silva, will discuss what further steps the BNA can take to help aid economic recovery, diversification and inclusive growth.
