Overview

Ahead of presidential elections in Sudan in 2015, President Bashir has called for a national dialogue to discuss Sudan’s significant political, economic and security challenges. However, opposition parties remain concerned about whether the government is interested in genuine reform. The National Umma Party and the Sudan Revolutionary Forces recently signed the 'Paris Declaration', calling for an end to internal conflict and for engagement in an inclusive dialogue, with the aim of broader political reform in Sudan.

Yasir Arman is one of the leading opposition politicians in Sudan. He will discuss the declaration, prospects for a broad opposition alliance in Sudan and will give an update on the situation in South Kordofan and Blue Nile.
