Africa Programme

Participants

Laurent Viguie, Head of West Africa Department, French Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Paris
Dr Alex Vines OBE, Director, Area Studies and International Law; Head, Africa Programme, Chatham House

Overview

West Africa remains of strategic importance to France. Insecurity in the Sahel, a failed coup in Burkina Faso and  upcoming elections in Côte d’Ivoire, Guinea and Benin keep Paris focused on its ex-colonies. France is also looking for new partnerships, expanding its trade and investment in Nigeria.

Laurent Viguie, head of West Africa Department, French Ministry of Foreign Affairs, will discuss the country’s ongoing engagement in the region and present his projections for future priorities.

Attendance at this event is by invitation only.
