Overview

In July 2012 the UK government launched its review on the balance of competences between the EU and the UK, an audit of what the EU does and how it affects the UK. The review aims to deepen public understanding of EU membership and provide a serious contribution to the wider European debate about improving the EU in the face of collective challenges.

This roundtable workshop will discuss the EU’s competence in the area of economic and monetary policy, an area in which there has been significant reform as a result of the crisis. In particular, it will look at the key challenges the UK faces, in light of future developments at the EU level in this area, and how further integration within the euro area may affect the UK.

A light lunch will be served at 12:30.
