Overview

This event will launch the inaugural UK-China Reform and Innovation Forum (RIF), which was announced by Prime Minster Cameron and Premier Li Keqiang in 2014. The RIF is jointly convened by Chatham House and the Development Research Center of the State Council (DRC), involving high-level experts and decision-makers from China and the UK.

The aims of the RIF are to:

  • Enhance bilateral corporation through learning about each country’s work on reform and innovation
  • Examine innovative and practical ways to reform governance systems in the UK and China
  • Enhance understanding of how to address growth and development challenges

Each year, the forum will focus on a different topic. This year, the RIF will focus on the interrelated challenges of reform and innovation and natural resource governance and sustainability. The key objective is to identify innovative ways to reform the governance structures used to promote development in the UK and in China, in order to promote more resilient, more competitive and greener growth models.

Attendance at this event is by invitation only.
