UK Counterterrorism Legislation: Impact on Humanitarian, Peacebuilding and Development Action
Chair: Elizabeth Wilmshurst, Distinguished Fellow, International Law, Chatham House
In the light of a legislative and regulatory framework which makes banks reluctant to transfer funds into conflict zones, donors reluctant to take risks and NGOs more vulnerable and risk averse, there are growing challenges to the delivery of effective humanitarian, peacebuilding and development objectives. This has serious consequences for people living with conflict. David Anderson QC will open the meeting. Participants will then be invited to discuss the challenges for government and civil society and the possibilities open to them.
This invitation-only event is hosted by the International Law Programme and the International Security Department.
The event will be followed by a drinks reception supported by Charity Finance Group and Conciliation Resources.
