Ukraine’s Business Environment: Corruption and Corporate Political Strategies

6 February 2017 - 15:30 to 17:00

Chatham House, London

Dr. Peter Rodgers, Lecturer in Strategy and International Business, Sheffield University Management School
Professor Colin. C. Williams, Professor Public Policy, Sheffield University Management School
Oksana Nezhyvenko, Kyiv-Mohyla Business School

Despite two years of anti-corruption efforts, Ukraine still ranks high in terms of corruption. Some efforts in deregulation and reform of public procurement have partially cleaned the system.  However, the institutional environment remains weak, conducive to shadow economic activities, influence of strong vested interests and violation of property rights. What kind of strategies do multinational corporations develop to mitigate the market-associated costs and develop legitimacy in the host market?

This event will present recent findings of a joint research project by Sheffield University Management School and Kyiv-Mohyla Business School.
Attendance at this event is by invitation only.
