Overview

Channel 4's Unreported World has gained rare access to Houthi-held Yemen - where a devastating civil war has resulted in huge numbers of casualties and an acute lack of basic resources including food and medicine. This has led to unprecedented levels of malnutrition, particularly in children, but with the western media and politicians focusing on Syria, Libya and Iraq, the war in Yemen has largely been ignored by the outside world.

Following the screening, our panel will discuss the root causes of the war and the complex geopolitical dynamics that have prolonged the conflict. Is there a realistic path to peace? What are the human costs and regional implications of the conflict becoming even more drawn out? And why is Yemen still so rarely mentioned in the West given the magnitude of the evolving humanitarian disaster in the country?
