Chatham House, London

David O'Sullivan, Ambassador of the European Union to the United States

Notable opportunities exist for the US and Europe to help mould a strong and robust international system. Both parties continue to share enduring vital interests and face a common set of challenges both in Europe and beyond, many of which neither the US nor its allies across the Atlantic can manage independently. To this end, promoting the common interest of both parties could arguably require a more robust and comprehensive transatlantic relationship than in the past.

Drawing on a career that spans five decades, David O’Sullivan will assess the future of Europe’s bilateral relationship with the United States following Brexit.
