Chair: Jacob Parakilas, Assistant Head, US and the Americas Programme, Chatham House

Since being inaugurated as the district attorney of New York County on 1 January 2010, Cyrus R. Vance Jr., has overseen a falling crime rate in New York, including the dismantling of numerous violent street gangs, several major domestic and international cybercrime and identity theft operations, and the first convictions of individuals on state terror charges. Mr Vance is also the co-chair of Prosecutors Against Gun Violence, a bipartisan coalition of leading prosecutors from across the United States which advances prosecutorial and policy solutions to the national crisis of gun violence.

Mr Vance will join us to provide his analysis on some of the prevalent criminal issues facing America today.
