Overview

When President Nana Akufo-Addo won Ghana’s tightly contested elections in December 2016, he inherited a fragile economy beset by low commodity prices and a decline in GDP growth, which slowed for the fifth consecutive year in 2016. The New Patriotic Party’s victory heralded a shift in Ghana’s economic policy, promising to improve the business environment, implement monetary policy to stabilize the currency, and focus the financial sector to support growth in agriculture, manufacturing and industry.

At this event, a senior government delegation will discuss implementation of the government’s policy priorities, its flagship programmes and measures of success, with a particular focus on infrastructure and energy.
