The Way Forward After Brexit
Pascal Lamy, President Emeritus, Jacques Delors Institute; Director-General, World Trade Organization (2005-13) and European Commissioner for Trade (1999-2004).
Chair: Quentin Peel, Associate Fellow, Europe Programme, Chatham House.
The UK government plans to begin negotiations with the EU by the end of March. At the same time, important elections will take place across Europe, in the Netherlands, France, Germany and possibly in Italy. Support for anti-EU parties is on the rise.
In this session, the speaker will highlight the geopolitical and economic consequences of Brexit for the UK and the EU27. In particular, he will focus on the risks this could present for EU integration, UK isolation and UK-France relations going forward.
This is part of a series run by the Europe Programme on ‘Britain and Europe: The Post-Referendum Agenda’.
Attendance at this event is by invitation only.
