What Does China Want?

Chatham House, London

Kerry Brown, Associate Fellow, Asia Programme, Chatham House; Author, China's World
Chair: Isabel Hilton, CEO, China Dialogue

Drawing on research into Chinese leaders, their beliefs and their instincts, Kerry Brown will argue that the key to understanding the motivations that underpin Chinese actions on the international stage lies in the unique way China thinks about the world.

In conversation with Isabel Hilton, Brown will analyse China's foreign policy goals to shed light on the state’s actions, including skirmishes with US Navy destroyers in the South China Sea, ongoing disputes with Japan over the Senkaku/Diaoyu Islands and increasing displays of military prowess, including huge investments in cyber warfare.
