As the pandemic continues to expand, the prospect of the virus becoming endemic and the economic and societal impact of measures aimed at suppressing it are increasingly felt. As the world enters a new phase of the crisis, countries are needing to find ways to successfully live with the virus.

The fifth session of the autumn series of webinars on the coronavirus with Professor David Heymann and special guest, Dr Anthony Fauci, helping us to understand the facts and make sense of the latest developments in the global crisis.

Professor Heymann is a world-leading authority on infectious disease outbreaks. He led the World Health Organization’s response to SARS and has been advising the organization on its response to the coronavirus.

Dr Fauci has served as the director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) in the US since 1984. He oversees an extensive portfolio of basic and applied research to prevent, diagnose and treat established infectious diseases such as HIV/AIDS, respiratory infections, diarrheal diseases, tuberculosis and malaria as well as emerging diseases such as Ebola, Zika and now COVID-19.
