It paved the way in providing lethal aid and long-range strike capability and, unusually among Western European countries, has backed Ukraine in striking legitimate targets within Russian territory. At the other end of Europe, British citizens have hosted almost 200,000 Ukrainian refugees under the Homes for Ukraine scheme.
