Since the beginning of Russia’s full-scale invasion, the UK has demonstrated its solidarity and support for Ukraine. It paved the way in providing lethal aid and long-range strike capability and, unusually among Western European countries, has backed Ukraine in striking legitimate targets within Russian territory. At the other end of Europe, British citizens have hosted almost 200,000 Ukrainian refugees under the Homes for Ukraine scheme.

Dame Melina Simmons’s active role in supporting Ukraine’s fight gives her unique insight into the relationship between the UK and Ukraine. In this conversation, she will discuss the role the UK plays in the war and in Ukraine’s recovery.

Please join us for a critical discussion including:

  • How does support for Ukraine fit in with UK strategic priorities?

  • Will the UK continue its unambiguous support for as long as Ukraine itself continues to fight to evict Russian troops from its soil?

  • How are diminishing munition stocks affecting UK support?

  • What is the UK’s involvement in Ukraine’s early recovery? What can it do to equip the private sector to invest in Ukraine?
