Assessing and anticipating the cyber risks and opportunities arising from critical technologies.

Research event, Workshop Invitation only
22 February 2024 — 9:00AM TO 5:30PM
Chatham House and Online

This workshop aims to convene experts, government and industry to discuss critical technology, their cyber risks and opportunities, and improving the UK’s ability to anticipate, assess and act on these significant science and tech developments.

This workshop, along with its subsequent policy brief, is designed to steer the Department for Science, Innovation and Technology’s work for 2024 in managing the cyber risks and seizing opportunities associated with the five main technology areas highlighted in the 2023 International Technology Strategy (ITS): AI, engineered biology, quantum, semiconductors, and future telecoms. Our goal is to pinpoint any shortcomings in the ITS and propose specific actions the UK can take to effectively navigate critical technological advancements. Additionally, we will focus on addressing potential cyber risks and capitalizing on opportunities that emerge.
