G7’s role in trade and tech governance

This closed-door workshop will explore the role of the G7 as a key forum for trade and technology cooperation.

Research event, Workshop Invitation only
10 March 2022 — 2:00PM TO 4:00PM
Online

Germany took over the G7 presidency from the UK in January 2022. While some of the substantive focus areas on trade and technology will be continued, the G7 presidency offers Germany an opportunity to provide new impetus. However, concrete actions by all G7 members will be needed to strengthen coordinated approaches to key global trade, economic and technology issues.

This closed-door workshop, supported by the Hanns Seidel Foundation, will seek to analyse the role of the G7 as a key forum for trade and technology cooperation. This workshop will seek to answer questions including:

  • What trade and technology-related issues should Germany prioritise under its presidency of the G7?
  • What concrete actions would be needed from G7 members in order to take these priorities forward?
  • How can G7 efforts best be aligned with other trade and technology governance initiatives at the bilateral, regional and global level?
