This closed-door high-level roundtable brings together a small group of Italian and British participants to discuss internal dynamics in Italy and the UK, prospects for the bilateral relationship and strategic cooperation in the field of security and defence in the context of the war in Ukraine.
With new governments in both countries since the autumn in the context of an energy crisis and high inflation, participants take stock of domestic dynamics, economic frameworks and political priorities in Rome and London. Key issues to consider include UK-Italy cooperation within multilateral groups such as the G7, G20, European Political Community and Quint Group as well as the current state of UK-EU relations. Additionally, discussions assess the scope of bilateral defence cooperation in the context of the war in Ukraine and NATO’s new Strategic Concept and consider the future of UK-Italy joint capability projects.
This event is organized with the support of Leonardo and in collaboration with the Embassy of Italy in the United Kingdom and the Instituto Affair Internazionali (IAI).
