Chair: Quentin Peel, International Affairs Editor, Financial Times
This event was held on September 11 2002 at Chatham House. Speaking one year on from the 9/11 terrorist attacks, the panel discussed how those events have subsequently shaped world affairs. They considered the response of the United States, assessing the narrative of the 'war on terrorism' and how this is perceived across the Arab world.
Looking forward, the speakers asked what the longer term impacts of 9/11 will be, focusing on the ongoing war in Afghanistan and the looming prospect of confrontation with Saddam Hussein's Iraq.
