The challenges of the first half of the 21st century are daunting. Terrorism, climate change, weapons of mass destruction proliferation, and mass migrations of workers affect virtually everybody in a global economy that makes each of us more dependent on one another. In this uncertain time the speaker will argue that civil society groups in the United States, Great Britain and other Western countries should demonstrate the same brand of cooperation and forward-thinking action that allowed them to successfully tackle difficult problems in the past.
