Afghanistan: insurgency, counter-insurgency and the UK's role

This briefing will assess the insurgency in southern Afghanistan particularly in the border regions. The context of wider Afghan-Pakistan relations will be discussed as will the international and especially the British role in the counter-insurgency. There will be consideration of the difficulties the Afghan Government faces in dealing with inconsistent approaches from different international actors.
