John Griffith-Jones explored the question of financial turbulence in the global economy. Can we hope to avoid future shocks to the financial markets by designing out blips, bumps and bubbles as we move forward? Or is the ever-present risk of the unexpected something we have to learn to live with and the inevitable price of the rewards economic success brings. If so, are there actions we can take to moderate if not eliminate the impact of such events.
