Overview

Organized in Partnership with the Society for Algerian Studies

This conference will look at the current state of politics and the economy in Algeria, and examine present and potential British links with the country. Speakers will include Dr Hugh Roberts, Andrew Henderson (British ambassador in Algeria), Gordon Marsden MP and M Bouzid Lazhari, the President of the Algerian-British friendship group in the Algerian parliament. The conference is held jointly by Chatham House and the Society for Algerian Studies. The Society, founded in 1993, was established to promote the study of Algeria in the United Kingdom, and is affiliated to SOAS.

The conference will be held on the record. There is a registration fee of £25 (incl. VAT), to include refreshments, lunch and membership of the Society for Algerian Studies for the calendar year 2008 (£10 for students).
