This is a Middle East Programme roundtable meeting.

Dr Schueftan will examine the nature of the strategic challenges facing Israel in the MENA region in 2008, including: the rise of Iran; Israel's relationship with its Arab neighbours and with the Palestinians; and the dynamics of relations with Israeli Arabs. Dr Schueftan will also take questions on the Winograd Commission.

Dr Dan Schueftan is the Deputy Director of The National Security Studies Center at The University of Haifa, a Senior Lecturer at the School of Political Sciences, and a Senior Lecturer at the Israel Defense Forces National Defense College. For the last three decades he has been a consultant to Israeli decision makers and to the top echelon of Israel's Prime Minister's Office, Foreign Ministry, Defense Ministry and The National Security Council. He is a regular source and interviewee for radio and television programs on the Middle East in Israel, Europe, and North America.
