Beijing Olympics: Chinese National Pride and Disputes

The talk will review some important debates on Chinese national identity and the challenges it faces in the ascendance of Chinese state power.

Dr Hao joined the BBC World Service China in 1998 where he produces radio, online news and current affairs content. He travels frequently to China, covering a variety of topics relevant to China's activities. Most recently, Dr Hao was responsible for reporting events during the Beijing Olympics.

Dr Hao's speech will be held on the record, however the question and answer session will be held under the Chatham House Rule.
