Will the Current Crisis be the Terminator of the Chinese Miracle?

30 January 2009 - 6:00pm to 7:15pm

Chatham House, London

Dr Wei Zhang, Cambridge University

Chair: Dr Kerry Brown, Senior Fellow, Asia Programme, Chatham House

This lecture is in memory of Professor David Wall, Former Asia Programme Head and Associate Fellow, Chatham House.

Dr Wei Zhang will focus on one of the key interests of David Wall's - the operations of the Chinese economy, especially as it globalizes. In particular, he will look at the impact of the current global economic crisis on China, and ask the key question: How will China fare in the months and years ahead, when it has to stand much more alone now that export markets in the rest of the world have started to dry up?
