NATO's Transformation After Strasbourg-Kehl: A Romanian Perspective

22 April 2009 - 1:30pm to 2:30pm

Chatham House, London

HE Cristian Diaconescu, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Romania
Chair: Sir Malcolm Rifkind MP

Romania sits at the current geographical limit of NATO space. From this perspective, Minister Diaconescu will discuss the outcomes of the 2009 summit, held in Strasbourg and Kehl on 3-4 April, and progress made since his country hosted the Alliance one year ago.

The summit focussed on the challenges facing NATO including cooperation with other organizations such as the EU, cybersecurity, missile defence and future enlargement, as well as the ongoing mission in Afghanistan.
