Chatham House, London

HE M Ibrahim Adel, Minister of Mines and Industries, Afghanistan

Afghanistan has an untapped wealth of natural resources from natural gas and oil to copper. In connection with the first Afghan hydrocarbon bidding round, Afghanistan's Minister for Mines and Industries will outline recent investment developments in the sector as well as prospects for future investments. The country's natural resources could potentially provide the Afghan people with a much needed alternative source of income and economic stability. More information about the first Afghan hydrocarbon round may be found on the Afghanistan Petroleum website.
