Chatham House, London

Participants

The Hon Wayne Swan MP, Treasurer of the Commonwealth of Australia

Overview

It is nearly a year since Lehman Brothers filed for bankruptcy, and since then financial markets and economies around the globe have experienced tumultuous times. In response to the ensuing crisis, governments have acted quickly to restore confidence and growth, repair the financial system and strengthen financial regulation to rebuild trust. The Hon Wayne Swan MP, Australian Treasurer, will outline the key role that coordinated international responses have played in responding to the crisis and asses the state of the world economy. He will outline priority issues for G20 Finance Ministers ahead of their London Meeting and the Pittsburgh G20 Summit, and discuss challenges facing the world economy in 2010.
