Professor Milani will discuss recent developments in Iran and what their reverberations tell us about the future of democracy for the country. He will explore the roots of today in the country's century-old struggle for democracy and modernity.

Abbas Milani is the Hamid and Christina Moghadam Director of Iranian Studies at Stanford University and a visiting professor in the department of political science. In addition, Professor Milani is a research fellow and co-director of the Iran Democracy Project at the Hoover Institution. He writes and teaches about Iran's encounter with modernity and quest for democracy, US relations with Iran, and Islam and the West.
