Overview

The speaker will discuss the regional implications of the situation in Afghanistan.

General Ehsan-ul-Haq has had a distinguished career in the Pakistan army. He joined the army in October 1969 as an Air Defense Officer and rose to the position of Corps Commander Peshawar. After 9/11 General Ehsan was appointed head of the Inter Services Intelligence Directorate. He was also appointed Chairman of the Joint Chiefs from 2004-07.

In recognition of his meritorious services to the Army, he has been conferred the award of Nishan-i-Imtiaz (Military). He is also the recipient of the 'King Abdul Aziz Excellence Medal' from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Legion d' Honneur from the Republic of France.
